May 7, 2023: True Apostolic Worship

“Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him” Psalm 2:11-12

The following are four teaching truths for apostolic worship:

  1. Practice reverential fear in your worship towards God. Gird up your thoughts and affections to be brought under subjection to intimate worship. Practice transparency with God during this time. Be willing to worship God with emotional transparency.
  2. Focus on God’s greatness today. Practice placing the greatness of God’s character above every impossible scenario you face today. Set your goals for today based on His greatness and not the limitations of your resources. Find scriptures to exalt God’s greatness while facing the reality of your circumstances and quote them out loud.
  3. Practice humility by bowing your issues, goals, and pressing matters to God’s presence. Create disciplined thoughts of bringing disturbing or concerned issues under God’s Word. Where you place a higher priority over His presence than the prevailing issues surrounding you. Practice loving His presence more than the issues you are responsible for. Practice surrendering worship to issues you are not in control of. Speak and declare out loud the sovereignty of God in your present circumstances.
  4. Mix your faith in God’s love with His judgments when worshipping Him. Practice worship with the intent to obey God’s Word no matter what. Renew your convictions with personal obedience according to Psalm 15:4. Focus on the goodness and mercies of God through His judgments.
