January 8, 2023:

I Need You, You Need Me

“I need you. You need me. We’re all a part of God’s body. Stand with me. Agree with me. We’re all a part of God’s body. It is his will that every need be supplied. You are important to me. I need you to survive.”

It is the modern-day version of “you’re my brother, you’re my sister.” The message is the same. We need each other and are the body of Christ. While we all have different parts to play in the body, all parts are necessary to make the body whole and complete. So in a sense, what happens to you happens to me. If you have a problem, I indirectly have one too. If you succeed, so do I.

The song’s second part says, “I pray for you. You pray for me. I love you. I need you to survive.” I wonder how different things would be if we prayed for one another daily. No matter how talented and dedicated, there isn’t one person with every gift needed. It takes us all working together. If we truly “love our neighbor as ourselves,” then shouldn’t as much of our time spent in prayer be praying for the success and blessings of others as for ourselves?

Find someone this week and partner with them in prayer. Pray for their success and pray for blessings in their life. You may pray them into your own life by doing this.
