November 19: Prayers of Thanksgiving

The words “Thanks,” “Praise,” and “Worship” are mentioned over 100 times in scripture. This just goes to show how important it is to give thanks, not only in our spiritual lives but also in our everyday lives. To deepen your prayer life, try reading all the Psalms with an asterisk (*) and meditating on the words. Take time to apply the scriptures to your own life, and appreciate all the blessings you have. A heart full of gratitude can work miracles.

  • “And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will” (Lev. 22:29).
  • “Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works” (I Chron. 16:8, 9).
  • “…And let thy name be magnified forever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee…” (II Sam. 7:26).
  • Psalm 100:1-5 – A Psalm of Praise unto God *
  • Psalm 18:1-3 – Praise to God on a Day of Deliverance *
  • Psalm 30:4, 5, 11, 12 – A Song of Dedication and Praise *
  • Psalm 50:1, 14, 15, 22, 23 – Our God is a Righteous Judge *
  • Psalm 79:13; Psalm 95:1-3 – A Call to Worship and Obedience *
  • Psalm 107:1-3 – Thanksgiving to the LORD for His Great Works of Deliverance *
  • Psalm 116:1-2 – Thanksgiving for Deliverance from Death *

In I Thessalonians 5:16-18, Paul writes about God’s will for you! “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
