April 3, 2022: But Ye Shall Receive Power…

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:4-8).

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all ower is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”(Mattthew 28:18-19).

When reading through the Bible, you find that everything in the Old Testament leads to the glorious coming of Jesus to dwell among us, but after He comes, there is a lingering responsibility left to the Church to continue the work that He started.

In the book of Acts, we find that the first church immediately after receiving the promise of the Holy Ghost began to see miracles, signs, and wonders. There is a principle that the early church understood that we seem to struggle within our lives today. The early church not only understood the awesomeness of God’s power, but they understood how it directly affected them. They had been with Jesus, they saw Him heal blind eyes, make the lame walk, and raise the dead to life. They understood how His power could change anything it came in contact with; and when they were filled with His Spirit, they too had the power to do these things when they invoked the name of Jesus.
