{"id":401831061,"date":"2025-10-07T16:05:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T21:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/calvaryokc.church\/?p=401831061"},"modified":"2025-10-19T10:50:52","modified_gmt":"2025-10-19T15:50:52","slug":"wise-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calvaryokc.church\/es\/wise-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Wise Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family Devotion: Week of October 13<\/span><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p><b>Ephesians 5:15-16<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><b>Devotion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever felt like time moved so slow while waiting for something?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever said \u201cwell, that was a waste of time?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever thought, \u201cI just wish I had more time\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b><i>\u201c<strong><em>We must use time as a tool, not as a couch.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d &#8211; John F. Kennedy<\/i><\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Take a wild guess how many hours a day the average person spends their free time on a screen. 2? 3? 4? Try 7.<\/p>\n<p>Seven. Hours. A Day.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s about 3 \u00bd months a year.<\/p>\n<p>If you live the average life of 78 years, that ends up being around 22 years of your life spent on a device\u2026<strong>yikes!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Time is the most precious resource we have. You can\u2019t make more of it. You can\u2019t get it back, and we really don\u2019t know how much time we have left. This is why it\u2019s important to use our time wisely!<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cMaking the best use of the time\u2026.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When we put our time into things that serve others or grow ourselves, we are not \u201cspending\u201d our time but \u201cinvesting\u201d our time. An \u201cinvestment\u201d is something that grows to something bigger than what you have put in. Think of a small seed to an apple tree. A wise use of a seed is to plant it, water it, fertilize it, and protect it. Then, after the hard work and dedication of cultivating that seed, you\u2019ll get to enjoy the sweet taste of the apples you worked hard for. Don\u2019t let the seed sit on the shelf for \u201cwell, one day I will.\u201d The only things that grow without effort are weeds.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cbest use of our time\u201d can look different to each of us. For some, it could look like putting down the PlayStation controller and grabbing your Bible. To a parent out there, it could look like your family gathered around a board game instead of doom-scrolling social media.
