God Given Vision

Proverbs 29:18
“ Where there is no vision, the people perish: …”

Our Vision:
Loving God and People in Spirit and Truth

Our Mission:
Helping hurting people reach their full potential in Christ by serving with excellence

Nothing of any significance has ever been accomplished without a vision.  Before every invention, before every building, before every bridge, before every gold metal, before every exploit for God, someone had a vision and worked to make it happen.

Vision is the art of seeing things that are invisible.  Faith is often the byproduct of Vision.  For faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” and vision is the dreaming or seeing of those things that are afar off.

God given vision is one of the most compelling motivators know to man.  With inspired visions God has changed the course of the world many times.  On the day of Pentecost Peter quoted Joel’s prophecy that God would give visions to the young men and dreams to the old; not dreams of yester year, but dreams of what can be by faith in God.

The success of Calvary has been in large part due to the visions God placed in the hearts of his people.  From Pastor Sharp’s original call to the city, to the present facility we now have services in, God has prompted us with vision all along the way.

Take a look at our many ministries and they will attest to the vision of Calvary.  Each ministry has a vision to meet a pressing need in our society.

However, the primary need is that of reaching a lost and perishing world.  Through giving to missions, both foreign and home, Calvary is actively helping others carry the gospel to the world.

By community outreach, social events, revivals, Home Friendship Groups, and a variety of other means, Calvary is actively reaching for our community and surrounding cities. We are making “all the difference” in many lives.

Calvary Training Institute (CTI) is the fulfillment of a vision to establish in word and doctrine those who are in pursuit of God’s high calling to be a Christian.  It is and always will be the truth that makes us free. These classes are in both English and Spanish.

Calvary has a vision for all peoples.  The multicultural congregation attests to the fact that this vision is more than just popular “ear tickling” talk.  Many races worship side by side at Calvary.

It was Columbus who wrote most beautifully of the power of the Holy Spirit to endue His People with vision. Consider what he wrote in his logbook concerning his famous voyage to the New World:

“Our Lord opened my understanding (I could sense His hand upon me) so it became clear to me that the voyage was feasible... All those who heard about my enterprise rejected it with laughter, scoffing at me... Who doubts that this illumination was from the Holy Spirit? I attest that the Spirit with marvelous rays of light, consoled me through the holy and sacred Scripture, …why inflame me with a sense of great urgency? ... No one should be afraid to take on any enterprise in the name of our Savior, if it is right and if the purpose is purely for His holy service... And I say that the sign which convinces me that our Lord is hastening in the end of the world is the preaching of the Gospel recently in so many lands.”

God can give vision but every person controls the limits of their own field of vision.  One can live in the shadow of their vision without ever grasping it.  The will and skill to make a vision become reality are essential, however, will is more important than skill.

At Calvary we are making vision become reality!  We are moving from vision to vision by the leading of the Lord.
